Beach Read (Paperback)

Staff Reviews
Yes, the premise of this book is adorable (a literary writer and a romance novelist make a bet they could each finish a manuscript from the other's genre by the end of the summer!? <3) and it hits all the right notes for a perfect romance (very funny dialogue and very good kissing scenes).
But I also loved the nuanced grief and angst in this one, all from the perspective of narrator January. She is a cynical and hilarious gem of a character.

“What do you get when you cross a disillusioned romance author with a Hemingway wannabe? A compulsively readable book where you kind of hope for your train to be delayed so you can spend a few more minutes with January and Gus. These two, saddled with writer’s block, make a pact to write the other’s genre. Literary snobbery is (rightfully) called out, and the two begin to navigate a friendship outside of writing as they explore the other’s process. Reader, I loved it.”
